Jade: The Stone of Health

Jade is also a stone used much in Feng Shui. It is associated with long life and good health. The name originates with the Spanish ‘piedra de ijada’ meaning ‘stone of the side’ because it was used to cure kidney ailments if applied to the side of the body.

The term jade actually refers to two distinct types of stone which closely resemble one another - the more common nephrite and the more expensive jadeite. Jade is tougher than granite and more difficult to carve than solid steel. When diamonds were first introduced to China sometime between 1005 and 221 BC, they were originally more highly valued as jade carving tools than as gems.

Jade, the "Stone of Heaven" became so influential with the Chinese emperors that Confucius even wrote that men should aspire to its qualities of benevolence, intelligence, righteousness, humility, resonance, loyalty, faith, virtue and truth. Today we use Jade in the health, benefactors and wisdom areas of the house according to the Bagua Compass.

Feng Shui for Health

In Feng Shui we look at the kitchen and bathroom as all centers of health energy giving us three opportunities to create good health chi.

Hang an Austrian Crystal in the kitchen window to attract energy into the kitchen. Clear out the clutter in the kitchen so you have clear counters. Place, in the kitchen, a representation of health such as a string of garlic, a health Buddha, a green plant, or a bowl of fruit. Picture yourself as being healthy and being in the kitchen preparing healthy food for yourself. Each time you enter the kitchen see your health representation and remind yourself that you are heading toward total wellness.

In the bathroom make sure that drains are clear, standing water is not healthy.  Add a live plant to the bathroom to bring additional good health energy.
